      • Veggie-Feeding Trick
        08/27/06
I have learned that feeding time for 5-month-olds is best when they're sans clothes and wearing only diapers. This is especially helpful when Kellen decides to get frustrated because I'm not feeding him fast enough. See, he tends to "camel spit"---that's when everything in h

      • In Good Hands
        08/20/06
Kellen and Grant had a long day at church. They got to go an hour and a half early so I could teach the the "Teaching the Gospel" class before the regular Sunday meetings. Then, the boys stayed about an hour after the regular meetings were over waiting for Justin to finish up his administr

      • An Evening with the Madsen Twins
        08/18/06
On Friday night, we visited with the Madsens and their twins (10 weeks older than our boys). We had a casual evening: the adults enjoyed pizza and the four boys enjoyed a combination of rice cereal, pears, and milk. After playing with toys, in bouncy seats, and in exersaucers, we all got to see each

      • Justin Joins the 31 Club
        08/13/06
(Below) After church today (where someone told me the boys are so huge they were born toddlers!), we rescued the very grumpy guys from their carseats and set them up for a long nap. Meanwhile, Justin and I enjoyed one of Justin's favorite birthday meals: corned beef and cabbage. (Thank goodness

      • Lunch with the Johnson Twins
        08/11/06
Today the boys and I had brunch with Becca Johnson and her twins, Sarah and Nathan. We've known about S & N for a long time, but this was our first time meeting them. All four babies have bright blue eyes and weigh about the same: around 16 pounds, so on lookers actually asked us if the bab

      • Big Boys
        08/10/06
Below, Kellen takes his showers sitting these days (Well, with a little help from Dad, that is!)

Below, Kellen and Grant are wearing the PJs grams and Auntie Staci sent last week. The clothes are labeled 9 months, and these boys are only 5 months old tomorrow!

      • The Bouncy Seat
        08/08/06
      • Togetherness
        08/06/06
The boys are beginning to interact with each other. Mostly, Kellen initates contact---he'll either grab onto Grant's hand and bounce it up and down for a while, or if he's close enough, he'll try to taste Grant's hair. (Ahh, brotherly love!)

        As an observer, I fi

      • Lunch Date with Dad
        08/04/06
Today the boys and I took the same bus that Justin takes to work each morning: the Route 60/Blue Island. The purpose of our excursion, though, was to meet Justin for a lunch date in Chicago's beautiful Millenium Park.

We met so many interesting characters on our bus rides to and fr

      • The Afterbath
        08/03/06
Around bedtime, the boys are generally cranky. They have an internal clock that lets them know they need to be in bed. Only two things have calming effects on them when that alarm strikes: 1. the bottle and 2. the bath.

But it's the bathing and "afterbathing" process tha

      • The New Chair
        08/02/06
The boys got a new chair this week: the "Bebe Pod." It's supposed to help them hold their heads and sit up on their own. No straps or buckles hold them in; rather, the chair fits snuggly around each boy's body and a pole-like piece of the chair fits between their legs.
      • City Garden
        08/01/06
I heard on the radio the other day that upwards of 70% of Americans garden in some way. My attempt to add to this percentage includes a little patch of vegetables that I call my "city garden"---and it is growing beautifully.

When Justin and I planted a few months ago, several
